Designing at Scale – TED talk
Margaret Gould Stewart (Facebook’s Director of Product Design) gives her take on designing for humanity in a past TED talk. Her presentation outlines three main topics and a fundamental principal for designing online interfaces for the masses.
• The little things really do matter and there is no such thing as a little detail.
• Design with data as well as interaction, research, testing, intuition, and human empathy to influence design.
• Introduce change very carefully because people really do care.
The fundamental grounding that she shares is to always understand who you are designing for. And on a global scale you need to focus on mobile, languages and user who experience settings unlike your own.
